Dear LMM,
What is your best beauty tip? If you could give everyone just one bit of beauty advice, what would it be?
Thank you, Lucy.
Dear Lucy,
This is probably going to sound like a sad cliché, but without hesitation I would say all women should curl their top lashes with an eyelash curler before applying mascara.
Sorry I haven’t delivered something more profound. I know this statement isn’t that original, and that you’ve probably heard makeup artists recommend eyelash curlers a thousand times before. Wanna know why? Because they work.
Curling the lashes not only makes them look longer, but makes the eyes appear bigger, more wide-open and prettier. What’s not to love?
Curling your eyelashes is such an easy thing to do, and the results are not only obvious but immediate. (I’m all for instant gratification.) I am constantly surprised by how many people I meet who have never experienced the magnificence of an eyelash curler, let alone owned one. Truly, it’s a crime. I can categorically say that buying an eyelash curler will be one of the best beauty investments you will ever make (if you pick it up and use it, that is).
Despite popular opinion, eyelash curlers are not a tool reserved solely for the young. They can benefit users of all ages. For instance, curling a straight fringe of lashes upward visibly lifts the whole eye area, which can be particularly flattering for older faces.
It’s no secret that my favorite eyelash curler in the whole wide world is by Shu Uemura. You can read more about my love affair with it here: To curl or not to curl. That is the question. I have owned the standard silver model for my entire career, but just this week was advised that it can now be purchased in gold too. Swoon!
If you want serious bang for your beauty buck, buy yourself a Shu Uemura eyelash curler. And, while you are at it, get one for each of your friends. Best. Gift. Ever. Trust me, they will love you for it.
The Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler is available online at: Shu Uemura-USA.com and Shu Uemura.co.uk, and exclusively through selected David Jones stores in Australia. Alternatively, visit Shu Uemura.com to find your nearest stockist.
Hope this helps!
Love lots and pink polka dots, LMM.
PS. If you already curl your lashes, I would suggest teeth whitening as the second-best beauty tip I know.
What’s your best beauty tip? Do tell!
