Smokey eyes for brown eyes

In the Marc Jacobs spring/summer 2011 show, there was a clear message in the makeup:

“More is more”

“Everything in excess”!

The models faces gave off a distinctive retro vibe, signalling that the ’70s are back with a vengeance.

To replicate this look (and learn how to apply smokey eyeshadow and achieve a bitten-looking berry lip), watch the video tutorial below.

My top smokey eyeshadow tip! Always start with eye makeup, not base. If you apply your foundation first it is likely to be ruined by fallout. So, to save time and effort, begin with eyeshadow, then, clean up the area beneath the eye before you follow up with foundation.

Hot orange is this season’s standout shade, so get it on!

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

The most exciting micro-trend this season is orange. It was all over the recent runway shows and, believe it or not, it suits most skin tones. It’s up to you how you wear it – lids, lips or fingertips!

I love a solid block of orange eyeshadow worked against a dewy complexion (see the images and video tutorial below).

Rock on in orange. The bolder and brighter the better!

No makeup

Begin by plucking your eyebrows, and cleansing, toning and moisturizing the skin.

Makeup artist tip! Always wipe over the eyelids with a cotton pad dampened with cleansing water prior to applying makeup. This will remove any oil from the surface of the skin and help your eye makeup adhere better.

Makeup artist tip! When I am using a dark-colored eyeshadow, I like to apply the eye makeup first. This way, if there is any fallout, it won’t ruin the foundation. (more…)
