This look is a translation of the metallic, smoky-eye makeup Keira Knightley recently wore on the red carpet. Her eyes were heavily rimmed with kohl liner and finished with a shimmery shadow; then a pretty pinky-peach lip color was added to complete the look.

“The Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2012 show was like a modern-day fairytale, complete with carousel, candy colors and lace trimmings. The models’ faces were fresh. Their complexions had been prepped to perfection to create skin that seemed to glow from within. Beautiful big eyes were the centrepiece of the look. Softly shaded lids were adorned with a fringe of false lashes and bordered by full brows. Lips and cheeks were plied with pretty tones of pink or peach. Hair was pulled back and held in place with shiny headbands. The overall look was stunning – totally wearable, and perfect for daytime and after dark. Hope you like my interpretation below.” LMM, 2012.

“ ’Tonal, monochrome or matchy-matchy’ ” is the perfect way to sum up one of this season’s hottest makeup looks. To translate the trend, pick a single colorway and apply it to the eyelid, top of the cheekbone and lip. Sunset shades like peach, melon, apricot and marmalade were seen at shows like Jaeger, Preen and DKNY. Choose these hues – they look fresh, feminine and oh so pretty on everyone!” LMM, 2012.

“There were strong references to the 1950s in the S/S 12 shows, both in the fashion and the faces. While the look below gives a nod to the decade, it’s more of a modern interpretation than a literal one. This ’50s makeup look is fashion forward, feminine and gorgeously glam. The dewy complexion is one of its main features. I drew inspiration from shows like Nina Ricci, Rochas, Stella McCartney, Valentino, Chloe, Jil Sander, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Versus, where dreamy, lunar-skinned ladies sashayed down the runway. Bouffant-style hairdos are also big this season (as seen on the catwalk at Fendi and Jil Sander). That’s definitely a cue to dust off your volumizing products and bust out a bit of backcombing action!” LMM, 2012.
LMM says: Wear this new-season trend on a Valentine’s Day date with your darling. It’s guaranteed to make his heart go thumpety-thump!

“This season saw the return of lush makeup. Words like indulgent, expensive, embellished, opulent and luxurious sum up the richness of the runway perfectly. The trend inspired me to create the look below – it’s party chic and disco decadent!” LMM, 2011.
