In the Marc Jacobs spring/summer 2011 show, there was a clear message in the makeup:

“More is more”

and

“Everything in excess”!

The models faces gave off a distinctive retro vibe, signalling that the ’70s are back with a vengeance.

My top smokey eyeshadow tip! Always start with eye makeup, not base. If you apply your foundation first it is likely to be ruined by fallout. So, to save time and effort, begin with eyeshadow, then, clean up the area beneath the eye before you follow up with foundation.

“Almost every single day, I get asked ‘How to do smokey eyes’”. LMM, 2010.

This look was inspired by the Blumarine Ready-to-Wear A/W 2010/11 fashion show.

The mood in Milan was dark and dramatic, rock ’n’ roll vibes filled the air, and models wearing graphic animal prints wowed the crowd.

The makeup was strong and sexy. Classic black smokey eyes, underpinned with tones of cranberry, were offset by light, understated lips.

Applying Boi ing concealer 150x150 Smoky Eyeshadow: Forever Fashionable

1). Cleanse, tone and moisturize the skin.

2). For a natural-looking complexion, blend Benefit Some Kind-a Gorgeous foundation over the face with your fingertips.

3). To even out the skin tone, apply Benefit Boi-ing concealer where needed (i.e. beneath the eye, over the eyelid, and on any imperfections) with a concealer brush(a), and then blend by patting it into the skin with your fingertip.

4). Next, to set the foundation and concealer, take a matte translucent powder(b) on a large, fluffy powder brush(c) and dust it over the face.

5). To make your lashes appear longer, curl them with eyelash curlers(d). (more…)
